Homeworkteach To Be Happy

The good news is that a growing body of research shows there are simple, concrete things you can do to help you learn how to be happy at work, and they don’t require huge changes. Start the day on a good note How you feel in the morning affects how you feel at work for the rest of the day. Don’t use school lunches as a time to introduce new foods or worry about variety in their diet. Use supper time or weekend meals to introduce them to new foods. You want them to eat a healthy lunch everyday and since you are not there to supervise them when they are eating, make a plan with your child so you can all be happy. At Best Foot Forward, our goal is to help students be successful in school. The more we get to know them, the more effectively and efficiently we can help them. To that end, there are several tools we use. A questionnaire is one of those tools and we use them throughout the school year to try to learn more about them. We ask them their favorite food, color and what they like to read.

One of the questions we asked our little ones is what they would do if they were teacher for a day. Their answers were diverse, and revealing. Our Academic Coach Karen Meyer says “I found their answers show some of their life experiences along with some of the things they might experience in their homes. While other answers show them having goals of what they want to be. Either answer opens up conversation of the importance of going to school and why it’s important to do their best.”

We thought you would enjoy reading some of the answers we collected. When asked to complete the sentence “If I Were Teacher For a Day, I Would…” without any prompting, here are some of their thoughts:
• Not put kids in time out and give everybody a star.
• Let the kids play whatever they want and eat pizza every day.
• Tell kids to be silent and quiet when doing their work.
• Teach everybody how to learn.
• Let the kids have fun and use their phones.
• Give no homework.
• Teach science all day long.
• Do homework in school not home.
• Enjoy being a teacher, be nice and help.
• Play a lot of games.
• Let the kids run wild, do computers all day.
• Get mad because I don’t want to be a teacher for a day, I want to be a teacher forever.
• Run around the halls.
• Tell kids to do their work.
• Fake like I am sick so I can stay home and watch tv.
• Teach them, if they are good they get a piece of candy.
• Change my job, I don’t want to be a teacher I want to be a police officer.
• Be Patient and NO homework!
• Give free time on computers.
• Be happy, getting paid lots of MONEY.
• Make everyone do homework and me do nothing.
• Let them use the bathroom 100 times a day.
• Teach people reading.
• Be nice to the children and give them snacks if they don’t have any food.
Our kids are so interesting! We thoroughly appreciate the opportunity we have to
get to know them, and hopefully, help mold them into successful students!

What to Look for in a Family

Money and location are important, but they should not be your primary consideration in choosing a family. It is just as important to find a family and situation you will be happy in so that your overall experience will be a good one.

After we tell a hiring couple about several girls, the hiring couple will decide which ones they are most interested in. To these girls they make a get-acquainted phone call. This call can make or break a placement for you. It is important that you be alert, attentive, talkative, and enthusiastic during your conversation with the hiring couple. Immediately after the get-acquainted phone call, we need to hear from you. Tell us if you are interested in this family or if you would like some more choices. Please be prepared to ask questions about the job and children.

After you have accepted an offer from a hiring couple, we schedule a 3-way phone conversation between the hiring couple, yourself, and a Helpers West placement coordinator. During this conversation, we will repeat everything (hours, pay responsibilities). Each party receives a copy of the 3-way agreement form (you will need to sign and return a copy to Helpers West). A departure date is set and travel arrangements are made at this time.
