I will not lie. Despite the cumbersome title and semi-cringe, semi-classic movie series the show is based on, this show had managed to capture my heart! I fell in love with the young love between Nini and Ricky. Both down to earth, hard working, and talented kids. Rather than having the a static villan like Sharpy, they introduced Sofie. They slowly pealed back her layers and humanized her. I can go on about how much I loved the show, but this is just a segway to the drama or HSMTMTSTD if you will!
The young couple that we all fell in love with (maybe just me I am a sucker for a good love story), fell out of love. And of course, the natural order of things: girl meets boy -> they fall in love -> they break up -> a career changing song is written. Well that is the case if you are Taylor swift or Olivia Rodrigo. I am of course referring to Driver’s Licience by Olivia Rodrigo (Nini). It is currently number 1 on Billboards the hot 100.
When it was released speculations ran wild on whether it was about Joshua Basset or not. The lyrics refering to Sabrina Carpenter, Joshua’s new beau, were incriminating, but vague enough.
